Go Figure....

Now, who feels bad? The Dr.'s office just called and said that Izabella's culture came back positive for Strep throat! Man, do I feel like a heel! I was giving her such a hard time yesterday for her Oscar performance of "feeling bad!". Daddy is on his way to get her and get a shot and it's home for the next 2 days! Poor baby! Bad momma!

First day in the First Grade!

Well, it's official, Izabella is in the first grade, and here she is on her first day of school! She's been in school for 2 weeks now, going on her 3rd week and she's really loving it. There's quite a leap from kindergarten to 1st grade, I must say. However, it's do-able. She has to keep a daily agenda and then she has a 3 part homework assignment everyday. She's been breezing through it so far. She is in the AIM program at school for the gifted children. She's taken out of her class on Friday's for 2 1/2 hours. There's 2 others in her class that are also in the AIM program and she had her first class last Friday. So far she seems to like it. There's no extra work or homework with this class, they just take this time to challenge them a little further than they do in her regular classroom so that they get the extra stimulation that the other children might not be ready for. I'm a little worried about her getting bored in class because she's reading at about a 4th grade level so the reading assignments they've been sending home or for very beginner readers. I think they are getting ready to start a "reading counts" program so that she's able to read higher level books to earn points. We'll see how it all works out.

She tried to "play" sick this morning. Said her throat wasn't feeling so well. I did something my mother used to do to me, "if you're too sick for school then we have to go to the Dr. and if you are sick you are getting a shot!" At first she felt better and then she decided it was worth going to the Dr. for. Steve took her in and nothing was wrong with her, no fever, no swelling in the throat, nothing. So, it was off to school she went. Steve had a little chat with her about not playing sick anymore, that her job was going to school and that was what she was going to do. I'm sure we'll have to deal with this again. She's too smart for her own good!

In no particular order.....

So, as promised, and after looking at everything I have to post, these will be in no particular order. So....here we go!

The slide show is from Izabella's birthday party. We had a camp out in the backyard courtesy of our fine neighbors the Brown's for the tent, and the Puckett's for the water feature, thanks! It was awesome as I'm sure the pictures tell. Sorry the slide show is so long, but apparently I took lots of pictures and couldn't edit any out. I want you to feel like you were there ;) Enjoy!

The next few pictures are just another night of neighbors all hanging out and letting the kids play. We do this every weekend and guess what, it's free and the kids love it. Before school started it was pretty typical for the kids to end up asleep before the parents were ready to go in, so if Izabella ended up sleeping at the Brown's then the next night I would offer to have their kids over, always a fun time!

The next few photos are from last weekend. The city had a Founder's Day celebration across the street at the school. They had food, music and an inflatable and then fireworks once it got dark. We went over to the school for a while and then I invited everyone back to our house to watch the fireworks. We layed out a blanket for the kids and the adults assumed their normal positions only this time in our driveway instead of the Brown's! (notice the Texas chainsaw masacre mask, niiiice! this has become a part of every weekend, after dark muwaa-a-a-a!) We ended up out there until almost 2 in the morning just talking it up! My how time flies...

These next few are just random swimming shots.......
And then the best surprise of the Summer was that Dad came to visit. Izabella was soooo happy to see Grandpa Bill! He got to come to school with her and eat lunch one day, that was fun! He made up a scavenger hunt for Izabella to play after school. He was really good at it, che had to find the first clue which led her to the next and so on until she found the prize, which was $20 and she had to read to him that night. She just can decide what to do with that $20 dollars but I'm sure it won't last much longer. We miss you already Dad!

OK, so this should catch everyone up to date. I will try to post more frequently so this doesn't happen again. Enjoy! Love and miss everyone!

Six Flags!!!

Before Taylor left to go back home, she wanted to do either white water or Six Flags. So, because I'm not getting in a swim suit right now and Steve wasn't home, I decided on Six Flags. Possibly one of the hottest days of the year to go, but we went. We got there at 10 am and didn't leave until 7 pm, what a long day. I rode a couple of roller coasters with Tay and Robert, while Sandra had the girls on their side of the park. We ended up at Skull Island which is the water park there and before I knew it, Sandra and I were in the water fully clothed. It was that hot. The girls really had a great time until Izabella fell and busted open her knee, I swear, she must be the biggest clutz ever! Anyway, here are a few pictures of the day at the park, enjoy!

Time To catch up........

Time for tea!
Sandra and I took Christina and Izabella to this little tea house we've been wanting to try out. I thought this would be the perfect place for us to celebrate with the girls the fact that they are starting 1st grade and leaving kindergarten behind. I found these hats at The Children's place and had to get them. This was our chance to get all dressed up and teach them how to have tea properly. It was such fun and the food was amazing. Sandra and I had their special cream of artichoke soup that we couldn't get enough of. We had about 100 teas to chose from and neither one of us knew a thing about tea, so we decided on the Cheeky Peach, which ended up being a very good choice. Both of the girls had so much fun. The have hat racks full of old hats that you can wear while you are there and as you'll see from the pictures, the girls took complete advantage of that. They have a lovely little gift shop there as well with beautiful tea pots, cups and everything you would need to have high tea at home. We've decided that that this will be the next stop for our "big" girls date. We have another friend that just loves tea so we have to take her there. Anyway, we had a lovely afternoon with just the girls. Enjoy!

The last days of school!! First Grade here we come!

(lord, help me!)

Bridging ceremony for Girl Scouts:
Izabella and Christina also joined girl scouts last year and when they begin they are called Daisy's. Once they complete all the "tasks" they get badges and as you'll see from their smocks in these pictures they earned all of their petals to complete the Daisy. The next step is Brownies, which Sandra has signed Christina up for but we haven't made up our minds yet on this one, but nonetheless the girls had fun over the last few months.

Sleepover at Christina's!
The girls had a sleep over last month and Sandra was actually able to catch them loving on each other instead of trying to kill or out shout one another. These are the best times when they are so sweet to each other. They are just so close, just like sisters. I guess when we see them together we're happy we don't have 2 girls, but down the road they'll be glad they spent so much time together!

Happy Birthday to Mommy!

I've been very bad lately about keeping up. With Izabella's last week of school and having to go to TN to get Tay, etc. It's just been crazy. I took all of last week off so that I could volunteer at Izabella's school for all of the last week activities! What fun that was, I will post pictures of this later. The girls and Steve took me to Kani House - a Japanese Steak house - for my birthday. They just don't slow down after 21 do they! Eek! 36! Anyway, we snapped this picture of the girls and I just wanted to share. They were both wearing their white sundresses and both looked so beautiful! We got a good gene pool it looks like to me! Anyway, Izabella started Summer Camp this week and Tay will be back to visit on Thursday for the weekend. I doubt we are going to see much of her this summer. She's taken a nanny job for the summer so I'm not sure how she'd be able to get away from that.......ho-hum, I guess I knew this would happen to us eventually. Too much stuff going on at home for her to miss. I guess we'll see her at HS graduation! just kidding tay! Anyway, have a good week everyone. My camera is in need of service, so I am getting pictures from everyone else's camera's so there may be a delay in my posts.
